Pursuing “First-in-the-World” Vaccine Innovation from Japan
Through more than 90 years of experience in vaccine development and manufacturing, BIKEN has cultivated unique biotechnology expertise and know-how. By combining these strengths with the rapidly advancing knowledge of immunology, we are unlocking new possibilities in vaccine development.
BIKEN is committed to protecting people from emerging infectious diseases for which effective preventive measures are not yet available, as well as from diseases for which greater protection is needed. Guided by our founding mission of “protecting precious lives,” we pursue innovative vaccine development harnessing the latest advances in science and technology.
Creating Vaccines from Japan to Protect Lives Around the World
Within the BIKEN Group, the Innovative Vaccine Research and Development Center (BIKEN Foundation Headquarters, Osaka) conducts basic research and lead discovery, while the Technology Research Center (Seto Center, Kagawa) conducts cross-functional technology development and industrialization research aimed at translating research results into products.
At the Innovative Vaccine Research and Development Center, through open innovation with academic institutions, including the University of Osaka, industry and international partners, we pursue the development of groundbreaking, world-first vaccines from Japan.
At the Technology Research Center, we develop manufacturing processes, quality requirements, and other technologies needed to bring vaccine candidates to market.
